Early Library Closing

On Monday, March 14th, all Doniphan County Libraries will close at 5pm instead of their normal 6pm (Highland and Wathena) or 7pm (Troy). Elwood will not be affected since they are normally closed on Mondays. We will be having a staff inservice meeting that Monday evening. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Dr Suess Birthday

dr-seuss-hat-clip-art-yio9LoeiE

Take time to read to your children this week as we remember Theodor Seuss Geisel ( better know as Dr. Suess). As he said the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. Stop by the library and pick your favorite book today.   More fun activities can be found at http://www.seussville.com/#/home

Annual Board Meeting

On Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30pm, Library District #1 Doniphan County will be holding our Annual Meeting at the Troy Library.  At the meeting, we will be electing one new member to the Library Board. If you are interested in taking a leadership position in a community organization that makes a difference, please attend the meeting and run for the opening. Anyone who lives in the district boundaries is eligible to run for the position. The library district is made up of most of Doniphan County, except for those who live in Wolf River East and West and Wayne townships.

Additionally, we would love to see our community come out and vote for who they would like to fill the open Library Board seat. We will have a ballot vote during the meeting, and all those who live within the district boundaries are eligible to vote just by attending the meeting. No prior registration is required. This is a great opportunity to show your support for the library and make your voice heard.

New Face At The Library

JennyEllis

We are so happy to announce that we have hired a new face at the library. Jenny Ellis is a new Branch Librarian, who will be primarily at Troy and at Elwood. Jenny has worked in several libraries in Missouri, including the St. Joe Public Library. We are so happy to have her join us on the staff. Say hi and introduce yourself if you see her. Jenny is an avid and passionate reader, so be sure to ask her for a great book recommendation.
